Signalized Intersection Improvements (County of Alameda)

Signalized Intersection Improvements (County of Alameda)

Through the County’s Traffic On-Call contract, assistance was requested preparing PS&E for their HSIP Cycle 9 Project. The project included safety improvements at five signalized intersections along Redwood Road and Castro Valley Boulevard in Castro Valley. Due to the funding deadline, the plans for modifications to five signalized intersections were completed in five months. The project included ADA ramp upgrades and additional 12-inch signal heads on existing signal mast arms and signal poles for improved visibility.

W-Trans is also analyzing the effect of adding leading pedestrian intervals at the five project intersections, preparing traffic signal coordination timing plans, and implementing and fine-tuning the timing for 27 intersections along three different corridors in Castro Valley.
