Santa Clara & Wilcox High Crosswalks Study (City of Santa Clara)

To improve access to two high school campuses, the City undertook a study crossing safety and developed recommendations for improvements.  As part of an on-call contract, W-Trans completed the study and prepared designs of the adopted recommendations.  Recommended improvements at Santa Clara High School included installation of a pedestrian hybrid beacon at one intersection, and at Wilcox High School included removal of three existing crosswalks, installation of two pedestrian hybrid beacons and one traffic signal.  Both designs also included installation of CCTV cameras and fiber optic interconnect.  This project received the APWA (Silicon Valley Chapter) Project of the Year Award in 2019 (less than $2 million).
