John King

John King is an Assistant Engineer providing support on traffic engineering and transportation planning services.

John King graduated from Santa Clara University in 2025 with a B.S. in Civil, Environmental, and Sustainable Engineering and a Minor in Construction Management. He earned his M.Eng. in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2026, specializing in Transportation Engineering. John grew up in the Bay Area and enjoys the region’s natural beauty through hiking, camping, and backpacking with friends.

John’s interest in transportation stems from the need for a blend of engineering, planning and community engagement in solving transportation problems, a desire to better equip transportation infrastructure to meet the needs of communities, and a childhood fandom of the show “Thomas the Train”.

John has experience using MATLAB, C++, and R coding languages, as well as CAD software and ArcGIS. He has worked on the Geotechnical, Land Development, Transportation, and Construction scopes of projects throughout the Bay Area in his internship experiences.

At W-Trans, John is excited to contribute to projects that improve safety and mobility across the Bay Area. He is particularly interested in multimodal transportation, complete streets, traffic operations, and the role transportation planning can play in building more livable communities.
