W-Trans is seeking transportation engineers/planning interns that are ready to work on a diverse range of projects for our expanding client base. Interns are exposed to a wide variety of tasks, in as many areas as possible, under the guidance of registered professionals in order to provide a well-rounded glimpse into transportation engineering and planning. We are proud to provide a hands-on experience where interns are exposed to real world concepts and applications used in the industry as we see your internship as an investment in the community of transportation professionals.

 

Who is W-Trans?

 

W-Trans provides traffic engineering and transportation planning services throughout California with an emphasis on the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California. We currently have offices in Santa Rosa (Sonoma County) and downtown Oakland. We specialize in projects that create more livable streets and sustainable transportation systems while also balancing the need to maintain traffic flow. W-Trans continues to serve existing and new clients in the Bay Area, increasingly working on projects in the Central Valley and Central Coast. We particularly welcome the opportunity to chat with prospective candidates who are currently located in Northern California or who would like to relocate to the region.

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Standing as a Junior or Senior working towards a Bachelor’s degree, or a Graduate student working towards a Master’s degree, in the field of Civil or Transportation Engineering or Transportation Planning
  • Relevant coursework in Transportation Engineering/Planning
  • Strong aptitude for computer and software applications
  • Competency using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other common software
  • Excellent writing and communication skills

 

Desired Qualifications

 

  • Prior internship experience
  • Ability to use AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with ArcView GIS
  • Experience using Synchro, Vistro, HCS, or other transportation software
  • Experience with Transportation references such as HCM, ITE Trip Generation, MUTCD, AASHTO ”Green Book”, Caltrans Highway Design Manual, etc.
  • Civil/transportation design and drafting experience

 

These are part- to full-time non-benefited positions in either our Santa Rosa or Oakland office.  Hourly pay ranges from $30 to $35 per hour.
