2018 HSIP Grant Application Assistance (City of Oakland)

Collision records for six corridors along the City’s High Injury Network were evaluated to assess the potential for developing projects that would be competitive for HSIP funding.  Tasks included conducting field reviews, identifying appropriate countermeasures and packaging them as a corridor-level safety project, preparing 30 percent concept plans, developing cost estimates, and preparing an HSIP application for the City.  Recommendations included intersection crossing enhancements at numerous locations along the Foothill and MacArthur Boulevard corridors, including RRFBs, curb extensions, refuge islands, and enhanced pedestrian crossing signage. The project was awarded $1.1 million in HSIP funds.
