W-Trans staff prepared the design documents for the traffic signal at the intersection of Windsor Road/Windsor River Road in the Town of Windsor. The Northwest Pacific Railroad bisects this intersection diagonally so the design included careful placement of crossing arms and median islands to ensure that vehicles could not enter the intersection under railroad pre-emption. Additionally, because there is substantial pedestrian traffic in the area, pedestrian heads were mounted and special phasing implemented to warn pedestrians not to cross the tracks when a train is approaching.
